And the Light Comes On!

Sometimes I just think too much.

I was copied in an email today from a potential new friend (strangely another who is former military, well-armed, etc.)  He was passionate about voting, and voting, and voting again until the bad guys are out and the good guys are in.  I admired and complimented him for his confidence/ optimism that the system actually works that way.  But I had to do what I always do – differ with him and the conventional wisdom.

While voting is important, it is just as important to understand that our government is not the government we were founded upon. Through the 14th amendment (and others), an illegal amendment by many expert opinions, “allowed” the federal government to do many of the things today that are fully outside its jurisdiction. It was the first step toward a “national” government from a federation of independent states.  This is not semantic. It is how we have evolved into servants of government instead of the other way around. Wouldn’t working for 5 months a year – just to cover the cost of government (and quickly exploding debt) – be considered slavery?  Especially when we didn’t volunteer ourselves (directly) to this position?

Notice that it really doesn’t matter which party is in control in DC? Republicans, our purported conservative, fiscally responsible party, can only come up with $61B (1.5%) in cuts from a $4T budget?! And $6B is too much for the Dems?!  This train is headed off a cliff – and fast.  Voting is the least we can do.

God may decide to change our future, but apart from that, we must prepare for difficult times.

I’m still looking for the scenario where this is averted.  Over $100T in unfunded liabilities….. Do we default, which crashes other economies and destroys credit throughout the globe, or does the Federal Reserve’s Quantitative Easing (printing money to buy our own debt!) “pay the debt” with hyperinflation (Bernanke himself said that QE is specifically to induce inflation – the stealing of our wealth)?  These are the choices. Either way, we lose.

OK enough of the problem. Time for the solution. The light I’m speaking of coming on happened about a week ago as I was thinking about my family, how to provide for them and protect them from the above – whenever it happens.  I tried to think about how things would look were our federal government to collapse.  The answer: Eastern Europe after the breakup of the Soviet Union.  What happened? The individual states had to find their own way, that’s what.

What would happen if Ohio (or your state wherever you live) gets its budgets in order, cuts the federal tethers before it crashes with all of us in tow, and stands ready to put together a restored federal system?  Like it was founded in the first place!  This may be just what the doctor ordered. Will it be rough? Probably. Will it be a tumultuous time. Most likely.  Our state government would still be in place. Our constitution would still apply. There really would be no absolute necessity that strife comes about – at least not for an extended period of time. The thing is, if we didn’t send so much Ohio money to DC for them to squander in pandering to their special interests, we’d be more than capable of taking care of our own anyway. Geez, that sounds so simple.

The real bright spot is that there are many already on this road. State sovereignty via the state legislature, or, if the legislators won’t do it,  options like the Ohio Sovereignty Amendment (www.pccoh.com) are our best shot.   Look at all the legislators in statehouses around the country looking to nullify Obamacare, federal gun laws, write their own immigration laws and so forth. Seems some have gotten it. (Contact me of you want to know more about the sovereignty amendment – or would help promote it).

Someone smarter than me said, “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity.”
It’s time to change our thinking.
And the game.
